New Beginnings.

What better way to kick start a new year than with a wedding?

Yes the names were left out intentionally. It's not bad photography.

Every girl dreams of her own wedding day, and why not? A day where she is treated like a queen, and everyone will be fussing over her. Ultimate pampering. Thanks to the mass media, weddings also bring to mind people fighting over discounted designer wedding dresses (think HIMYM, Friends), wedding trains stretching few miles long (think Princess Diana) and of course, wedding ceremony taking place in old castles (think Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes), or if you're eccentric, on sailboat (Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock). While everyone is rushing to have a grand and elaborate celebration, sometimes the simplest ceremony with loved ones is what truly makes the day special.

Since the bride is very close to my family (3 cheers for that) , the day started off with everyone (The bride, sis, mom and I) going to the saloon to get their hair done. Then it was kinda chaotic after that, what with rushing to get the venue perfect, picking up flowers and corsages, and last minute hair-do fixing since everyone's curls went a bit limp. Thankfully everything went as planned and the ceremony started on time.

It was my first time attending a Christian wedding ceremony, and the part I find the most meaningful was the exchanging of rings, and the reading of wedding bans. It makes the simple word wedding or marriage an eternal bonding of two souls, and that makes everything magical. For two people to meet and fall in love and consequently pledge their souls to each other, is a mark of total devotion and love man can have. In this world where we are plagued with the horrors of society, it is nice to find something as pure and simple as love. Sniff.

The simple ceremony ended with a buffet lunch and dancing to classic hits with the bride and bridegroom. A point to be noted, the unique thing about this wedding is, there were many programs lined up to entertain kids. Usually while the grown ups are busy catching up, the poor little kiddies will be left to their own devices, and that usually results in them running about chasing each other all over the venue. Thus, foreseeing this problem arising, the bridegroom arranged for a magic show to entertain them and supplying them with endless knick-knacks. Unique no?

But then again, having a wedding dress designed by a famous designer with a 8 feet train trailing behind and walking down the aisle in a old rustic castle sounds wonderful, or it could just be me.

Below are some shots of the day.

Before the ceremony, I took pics all over the venue.

The wonderful wonderful wonderful dessert spread in the buffet.

Clockwise from bottom:

Biscotti, Brownie, Apple tart, Cupcakes and brownie again.

My sweet tooth was totally satisfied.

Oh, there were cookies also.

And wedding cake, more on that later.

CUPCAKES! I absolutely LOVE cupcakes!!

Not only are they delicious, they are also colourful with cute designs.

So many cupcakes, so little time.

Kisses.

Bliss.

The wedding cake was a real cake, the upper half is a carrot cake, and the bottom half is a chocolate cake. I had a chance to sample a GINORMOUS slice of the chocolate cake, and it was marvelous. The icing though thick was sweet and chewy, and the chocolate BUTTER cake was such a dream, the chocolate flavours just burst in your mouth. It was like eating a wonderful chocolatety nougat. Yum Yum Yummy, overindulgence to the max!

The theme was red roses. Thus explaining the cake's decoration and the abundance of roses around. I didn't catch the bridal bouquet, but I did get present with a single rose. *happy grin*

The single rose, and the flower girls' bouquet.

The bridal hairpiece.

And

Last but not least, random shots with sister.

Here's to a wonderful new year and blissful weddings.

Hugs and Kisses, with love,

Jean.

You got me dreaming like a fool.
