So after all the planning and stuff the night was finally going to materialize in front of my eyes...directly after math I jetted off to the party venue AKA Y's house which is located in Seksyen 11 of Shah Alam...While we were there we marinated the chicken for the BBQ..then we rested for awhile because the side dishes have to be prepared later or else it won't look fresh..so we watched 'Catch Me If You Can' I will recommend it cause not only does it have the HAWT Leonardo diCaprio in it as well as the ever funny Tom Hanks..the plot is really interesting and it's amazing to see how the 17 year old Frank Abagnale changes identity again and again...Then after that we moved on to cook the side dishes and prepared drinks...

After yesterday I think I'm going to have to learn how to be more efficient and tidy in the kitchen as well as develop some ability that allows me hold hot potatoes...right before the party I think we lazed about too long so some dishes have to be rushed before the rest of the class could get here..and as a result we had to peel the potatoes the moment they were done..Have you ever tried dicing up freshly steamed potatoes?
I would also like to give many many many thanks to S and Y for helping out with the dishes..not forgetting J and A too for everything..and also BIG BIG BIG thanks to Y for lending her place for the class party..I will have to remember to send them a thank you card...*jots it down*
Also..G for being such a great person and doesn't mind us using up all his fuel and energy and time..XD
Thankfully all my worries didn't come true and there was more than enough food to go around..THANKFULLY...I guess I can safely say that it was a great night! Especially while playing 'Heartattack!'
So here's to anyone who would like to host a BBQ (some suggestions on the food from Jean the maestro of leftovers XD)
Side dishes : 1) Boiled long beans with butter
2) Simple garden salad
3) Potato Salad
As BBQs are mostly heavy on the meat keep the side dishes simple and light to balance out the meal..
For dish 1) simply put the long beans in boiling water and when they are done drain off the excess and add a teaspoon of butter to mix..while the beans are boiling add some salt to flavour it and soften the beans
Dish 2) Get some iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers as well as instant corn (the canned type)..mixed them all in a bowl and use scissors to cut the leaves into small pieces..(Literally just insert the cooking scissors and snip snip snip away)..add some mayo for light dressing
Dish 3) Steam the potatoes and dice them..add in spring onions (chopped)..salt and pepper to taste and some mayo..if you'd like to give it a twist in flavour get some Oregano leaves or Mixed herbs..it will compliment the potatoes nicely..
Main dishes : MEAT..(duh)
Normally any BBQ will be a success if you have the right type of marination for the meat..yesterday night there were 3 types of marination..
For the chicken wings : Pound garlic and ginger and retain the fluid..mix it together with soy sauce and honey
For the chicken drumsticks : Tandoori mix which is easily available anywhere but remember to get a cup of (PLAIN) yoghurt to mix with the mixture..follow instructions at the back of the packet to marinate
For the chicken er...thigh I think : Marinated with BBQ sauce but I'm not sure how to go about it..was MIA for that part..
Drinks : Orange cordial or fruit punch made with canned fruits
So there you have it simple suggestions for food during a BBQ party..don't worry about the marinating part..more is always less in this case so vamp up the volume and let your gut instincts guide you through marination!! (but please don't add a whole bottle of light soy sauce into 2 pieces of chicken vamp up the volume but with moderation)
Sadly there were no pictures of that night...so couldn't share them here..
and if Y is reading : Hun..I would love to have another ice cream pig out session + gossip session again with you!!
Once again..many thanks to all those that helped..and...............
TOODLES~~~ Am off to enjoy my holidays..my novels are calling out my name...
